History

The Vauxhall Nova SR represented the affordable face of 1980s hot hatch culture, offering spirited performance in a compact, stylish package. When this particular Nova 1.3 SR rolled off the production line and was registered by Drake and Fletcher Ltd in Maidstone on 25th February 1987, it wore the desirable optional Monaco Blue metallic paint and featured Plaid Sport cloth trim that marked it as something special.

Its remarkable survival story began with its first owner, Mr Begent from Sandwich, who kept the car in exceptional condition through regular servicing at Guilton Forge Garage. After covering just 66,000 miles over 25 years, the Nova found a passionate new custodian in Connor Shea, an apprentice mechanic who, together with his father Colin 'Cricket' Taylor, embarked on a sympathetic restoration that included engine rebuilding, bodywork refinishing, and mechanical upgrades including a Weber carburettor.

Recognising the rarity of such an original SR in optional metallic paint, Connor chose to preserve rather than modify, selling to current owner Andy Ward in 2014. Ward, who had owned a red Nova SR as his first car in the early 2000s, had been searching for an example to recapture that youthful enthusiasm. 

As a member of the Northern Nova Group, he continues to improve and showcase this exceptional survivor at classic car events including the annual Vauxhall Bedford Opel Association National Rally, ensuring this slice of 1980s British motoring history remains on the road for future generations to appreciate.

History

When Ford unveiled the Fiesta Supersport in July 1980, they created something special. Based on the 1300S and limited to just 3,000 examples produced at Ford's Valencia facility in Spain, this sporting variant proved so popular that it paved the way for the legendary XR2 that followed in 1981. The Supersport's runaway success confirmed there was genuine appetite for a performance-focused Fiesta.

This particular car has become a celebrity in the Fiesta community. Registered in the West Midlands in August 1981, it passed through several enthusiast owners before being acquired by the Salvage Hunters Classic Cars TV programme in 2019. 

Presenters Paul Cowland and Drew Pritchard discovered extensive corrosion during their inspection, leading to a complete bodyshell rebuild and meticulous restoration of every component. The result was a 'better than new' example that emerged in July 2020.

Yorkshire enthusiast Rob Hand purchased the restored Supersport, drawn by memories of owning two examples in his youth through his stepfather Mike Blagden, a director at Sheffield Ford dealers T. C. Harrison. 

After winning car show awards and enjoying spirited drives, storage constraints led to the car finding its current home with Lincolnshire-based fast Ford collector Bryn Ilsley in early 2023. 

Today, it's widely regarded as one of the finest surviving Supersports, a fitting tribute to Ford's early hot hatch heritage.

History

This particular TR6 began life as a left-hand drive North American specification car, exported from Seaforth, Liverpool, aboard the SS Atlantic Conveyor - a vessel that would later gain tragic fame during the Falklands conflict when it was sunk on 25th May 1982 with the loss of 12 lives. 

First purchased by Thomas J. Kaag through BL dealers Nemet Auto International in Newark, New Jersey, the car was repatriated to the UK on 24th August 1989 and converted to right-hand drive whilst retaining its original components.

Current owners Wendy and Darren Salmon, based in Nottinghamshire, acquired the TR6 from TR Enterprises in June 2005 with 50,000 miles on the clock. After joining the TR Register and enjoying a trip to Le Mans, they committed to the car as a 'keeper', commissioning a body restoration by local Triumph expert Rob Forster in November 2006. 

The couple have since used it for extensive European touring, including memorable drives on the legendary Stelvio Pass. In the summer of 2012, ethanol contamination in Swiss petrol damaged the fuel system during a tour, though they successfully nursed the car home using a borrowed fuel pump. Rob Forster subsequently rebuilt and uprated the engine, gearbox and other mechanical components. 

The TR6 has received numerous club awards and been featured in Practical Classics and Classic Car Weekly, but for Wendy and Darren, the real joy comes from touring holidays - they've covered over 60,000 enjoyable miles throughout Europe in this remarkable sports car, creating memories that span decades of adventure.

Ford unveiled the Mustang55 on 25th July 2019 as a fitting tribute to over half a century of American muscle car excellence. This special anniversary edition wasn't just another variant, it was a bold statement, featuring eye-catching black dissolve-effect bonnet and lower side stripes that flowed across the bodywork with dramatic effect. 

The gloss-black 19-inch alloy wheels and distinctive two-tone front grilles in Gloss Black and Pillar Black gave it an aggressive stance, while the Pillar Black 5.0 front wing badges bore a Colorado Red decimal point as a subtle nod to the car's performance heritage. Ford offered the Mustang55 in what they called 'bold new colours', and bold was certainly the right word. 

Inside, drivers found themselves surrounded by luxury touches including Alcantara trimmed seats and door panels, leather-wrapped centre console with distinctive grey stitching, and carbon fibre-effect dashboard inserts. Crowning it all was a plaque inscribed MUSTANG FIFTY FIVE YEARS, a permanent reminder of the Pony Car's remarkable journey from 1964 to 2019.

This particular Mustang55 was first registered in February 2020 and found its way to Norfolk-based enthusiast Roy Page in August 2021. The car's previous owner, apparently a collector of bright green vehicles, had covered just 4,000 miles. 

Roy quickly discovered that the Grabber Lime colour scheme combined with the mellifluous V8 soundtrack made quite an impression, using the car to transport friends and family to weddings and prom nights in memorable style. 

The Mustang55 even enjoyed its moment in the spotlight when it appeared in the promotional video for American-Ghanaian artist Amaarae's track 'Co-Star', filmed at the studio space Magazine London alongside other exotic machinery.
